Desk research, Market and competitor analysis
Desk research, Market and competitor analysis
I analyzed the market using the PAM-TAM-SAM-SOM framework to evaluate product potential. Despite a small estimated market share, competitor analysis revealed a blue ocean with low entry barriers. Assessing competitors across product, marketing, and business dimensions, I concluded — based on desk research — that moving forward was justified.

Interviews
Interviews
To gather additional insights, I conducted a series of interviews. I divided participants into two groups — experienced users and beginners — and asked each group tailored questions based on their level of familiarity with fragrances. This allowed to generate additional hypotheses for product development and gain deeper insights into user problems.

Next, I identified key user roles and the core jobs they aim to accomplish. I uncovered pain points in fragrance selection — like decision fatigue, lack of personalization, and confusing product info — which informed clear, user-centered value propositions that set our product apart.

Building on the identified JTBD, I created a preliminary user flow that mapped out key user actions across each screen. This flow provided a clear foundation for designing low-fidelity wireframes, allowing us to visualize the product’s core structure and ensure alignment between user needs and interface functionality.

visual design justification and benchmarking
visual design justification and benchmarking
I analyzed competitors' visual styles and found they often lacked emotional connection despite polished design. I aimed to go further by creating a visual identity that resonates both aesthetically and emotionally. Guided by three core principles: Sophistication, Progress, and Comfort — I shaped a visual metaphor: “Like standing in a fragrance shop” — evoking calm, curiosity, and personal discovery.
I analyzed the visual style of our competitors and found that, while many featured polished and cohesive design systems, they often lacked a strong emotional connection with users.
I set out to go a step further — to create a visual identity that resonates more deeply with our target audience on both aesthetic and emotional levels. To guide this vision, we defined three core principles: Sophistication, Progress, and Comfort. These values shaped our visual metaphor: “Like you’re standing in a fragrance shop” — an experience meant to evoke calm, spark curiosity, and invite personal discovery.
